Over the years, various manufacturers have developed a range of‘weird and wonderful’ size Ceiling Tiles to suit various scenarios and markets. These niche products include:
Suspended Ceiling Planks
These panels are often 600mm wide, however available in various lengths including 1500, 1800 and 2400mm to suit various designs. The most popular use for these panels is in corridors, where the length of the panel can span the full width of the corridor.
In the example of the Armstrong Ceiling Planks, the panel has a special SL2 edge down the longest edge of the panel which works in a ‘tongue and groove‘ type svstem with the other panels to create a flush joint. The width of the tile simply has a square edge as this is often trimmed down to suit the width of the corridor.
Imperial Size Ceiling Tiles
In years gone by, the whole UK Ceiling market was made up of imperial size ceiling tiles. However, as the years passed, primarily in the 70’s and 80’s, the metric size tiles we are familiar with today were phased in. The transition, although limited, is still happening today as we still receive plenty of enquires from customers with this older size panel. For full details on the size difference, please see our dedicated article.
500 x 500mm Ceiling Tiles
Usually only found in very high-end commercial properties as this is a bespoke size panel can be on a made to order basis. However, we often have a few spare boxes if you are simply looking to match up to your existing tiles.
