Insulated tiles are made from a composition of either rockwool or glasswool. Their soft texture offers excellent sound absorption, with even basic ranges achieving Class A status. In addition they test very well in the areas of humidity resistance and fire reaction. All this makes insulated tiles a great choice for the education and sectors.
The one downfall is that they do not tend to be good sound insulators as sound travels too easily through the tiles. There are some performance products specially designed to tackle this but these come with a price tag. For more affordable sound insulating tiles try a denser mineral fibre or plasterboard tile.
The leading manufacturers of insulated tiles are Rockfon with a full range from budget to specialist, and Ecophon who specialise in high-end performance products. AMF have also entered this market with the launch of their Topiq range.
